12 quick remedies for flatulence, libido, insomnia, dry skin

19th April 2009

• Why I've got a backlog of tips for flatulence,
B.O, libido problems, fungal infections and
insomnia

• 12 weird remedies you probably HAVEN'T
heard of before

• An inexpensive and easy egg recipe for dry
skin

Right, it's time to clear up this mess!

In my study I've got a giant notice board with bits of
newspaper and scrawled notes attached to it. Above
it is a big sign saying 'DO THESE NOW' and 'RAY,
DON'T FORGET TO MENTION THESE'.

The notes refer to absolutely loads of strange little
natural health tips I get sent or which I peel out of
journals, magazines and newspapers.

Sometimes these are things I'm told in the pub or at
dinner parties and write down on the back of
business cards so I can investigate further.

Usually I manage to weave most of them into my
letters...

But I've gathered so many up, I've decided I need to
splurge and pass them onto you NOW, not later.

So sit back and marvel as I throw 14 instant weird
and wonderful natural health remedies at you in
ONE GO!

Oh yes, this is health information as you've never
experienced before.... tips coming at you like fiery
fireworks of fact.

Fennel tea for flatulence? Coffee for asthma?
Cashews for appetite? Asparagus for libido? Oysters
for B.O?

Yes indeed. They're all coming up in today's letter.

But as I always say, please do consult a medical
professional if you're worried about your health or
you think you may have an illness. These are here
for you entertainment and information only.

Okay, now for the deluge...

12 weird health remedies you may not have
heard of

Without further ado...

• Fennel tea for flatulence!
Little known fact: fennel can treat mild
stomach problems like feeling overfull
flatulence. To make your own fennel tea, add
half a teaspoon of crushed fennel seed to a
cup of boiling water and let it sit for 10
minutes.
• Blackberries for diarrhoea!
Blackberries provide a remedy for dysentery
and diarrhoea. Either eat them fresh, juice
them or try press the blackberries into a juice.
Add 1kg sugar for every 1.2 litres of the
blackberry juice. Next, boil for a 5 minutes,
then allow to cool. You can keep this in the
fridge and simply add water to this when you
next feel the rumblings of thunder in your
stomach.

• Coffee for asthma!
Apparently, two cups of strong black coffee
can help as an emergency measure in a mild
asthma attack. There have been studies on
this published in the New England Journal of
Medicine. It keeps your airways open and
allows you a bit more time to get hold of your
medication or seek help.

• Lavender for insomnia!
Just put 2 drops of lavender oil on your pillow
before you go to sleep. It provides a soothing,
soporific odour that should put you on the first
train to the land of nod.

• Flaxseed to control food cravings!
Get hold of some quality flaxseed oil and add
it to your salads dressing or sprinkle on
vegetables. Even better, sweeten it with
manuka honey. Next, mix in some high quality
unpasteurised vinegar which has also been
shown to stifle appetite and prevent blood
sugar spikes

(See my book The Honey, Garlic and Vinegar
Miracle
for all the details and recipes at
Honey Garlic and Vinegar Miracle )

• Black seed oil for fungal infections!
If you have athletes foot, nail infections or
thrush black seed may help. You can buy the
extract in health stores and online as a topical
ointment
• Cashews to reduce your hunger.
If you eat a cup of cashew nuts your stomach
turns off hunger signals, thinking you've eaten
a load of food. Now, there's quite a lot of
calories in cashews, so consider just a
handful when you feel hungry - it will stave off
the need to eat for a little longer. If you want
to be really healthy, cabbage does the same
job and has barley any calories. So perhaps
try juicing 3 cups worth of cabbage and using
this as an appetite suppressant.

• Celery for insomnia!
This vegetable has a calming effect on the
central nervous system. In fact, celery seed is
often used as a herbal remedy for
nervousness, insomnia and anxiety. So if
you're suffering sleepless nights, take celery
juice mixed with water and honey. Sip it half
an hour before you go to bed. It should help
you relax and get to sleep.

• Gingko biloba for tinnitus.
According to some naturopaths this Asian
herbal remedy can help relieve tinnitus. It's
widely available in UK health food stores.

• Asparagus for boosting your libido!
This VERY health vegetable is rich in vitamin
E, which is considered to stimulate the
production of testosterone and may be important
for a healthy love life. It's apparently
very good for both female AND male libido
levels.

• Oysters for B.O!
According to some studies, many people with
bad odour problems are deficient in zinc.
Zinc-rich foods include oysters, liver,,
sardines, wholemeal bread, eggs and
pumpkin seeds

• Eggs for dry skin!
According to Caroline Torres of The New You
Letter, you should follow this recipe: Beat an
egg in a bowl. Add half a cup of coconut oil
and half a cup of honey, still beating as you
go. When it's thick and creamy, pour it into
an upright tube such as an empty toilet roll.
Then put the tube in the freezer
overnight. Peel back the tube and rub the
stick on your face, like a giant lip-balm. Leave
10 minutes and rinse off.
