Four comfort foods that could help you lose weight

17th April 2009

• Four great comfort foods that help you
lose weight

• What you can learn from a bag of Revels

• How to claim your freebie book about the
surprising benefits of tea: BoR LINK

Have you ever looked into a cupboard.... and
imagined you saw a bar of chocolate in a pair of
slippers?

Or have you ever imaged that a bag of chipped
potatoes was wearing a cardigan and waving at
you?

No?

Good for you.

You probably don't have the severe mental problem
I have with comfort food. I see the unhealthy things
in the fridge wearing cuddly clothes and beckoning
me closer... closer... CLOSER!

As you know from my many confessionals on this
subject I constantly crave that illicit snack... that
cheeky chocolate boost... that guilty pasta binge.

My life has been one long battle to accommodate
the hungry devil within. Rather than attempt to crush
him with my mighty hammer or righteousness,
(which never works) I've instead invited him in and
told him to sit quietly in the corner.

So I'm generally a good boy these days. After 4
years writing this newsletter and learning so much
about natural health, I've kept the inner devil largely
quiet and happy in his corner.

I eat my greens. I drink my freshly squeezed juice. I
lightly grill my ethicallycaught fish.

Whoopy doo. Well done me.

But comfort food... well, I'll admit I still crave it.

However, when it comes to snacking these days, I
follow the advice of one of my favourite EVER
newsletter writers. This is a guru (though she'd hate
that word) whose work both my wife and I admire
enormously.

Her name is Wendy Churchill. And she has a very
clever recommendation for eating comfort food.
She has found four tasty snacks that can form part
of a VERY healthy eating lifestyle... and yet release
all those natural pleasure-inducing endorphins we
crave.

Here they are...

Wendy's top 4 healthy comfort foods...

• Grilled bananas. Wendy says 'This will make
a warming sweet dish that's good for you in
so many ways. They are a natural mood
enhancer, can help prevent high blood
pressure, and help relieve irritability and
fatigue!
'

• Asparagus, according to Wendy, they
'contain a good supply of the kind of minerals
and B vitamins that you may be lacking. Great
for mental and emotional health.'

• Avocado. Wendy says: 'Not only do they
help increase the amount of happiness-
promoting serotonin in your body, they also
provide a healthy fat as an alternative to all
those unhealthy ones that our bodies
sometimes believe they really need!'

• Sweet potato. 'This is another great cockle-
warming treat,' Wendy writes. 'Bake it in the
oven like a jacket potato (only for a little less
time) and you have an instant savoury yet
sweet treat that's also really good for you. Its
vitamin B6 content helps prevent food
cravings and relieves depression. By keeping
blood sugar high it also prevents mood
swings.'

So there you have it. Four tasty foods that give you
all the energy and mood-boosting effects you crave
in that bag of crisps, bar of chocolate, white bread
sandwich or bowl of cheesy pasta.

Where to find more gems like these

If you haven't seen it before, I highly recommend
you take a look at Wendy Churchill's newsletter. It
doesn't cost anything whatsoever, and she's full of
wisdom, humour and occasionally piercing honesty.
There's no delicate subject she's not afraid to tackle
with honesty and wisdom. Be it money, death,
pregnancy, jealousy, relationships, diet ... you name
it, she has an opinion. And often a surprising one.

With Wendy there's none of the lazy platitudes you
get in self-help magazines or newspaper columns.

See for yourself. Take a look at this:

So what's all this got to do with a bag of Revels?

Wendy has a big problem with the phrase 'Life is a
bowl of cherries'. She simply doesn't know what that
means.

'Life, I've decided, is like a bag of Revels,' says
Wendy, referring to those chocolate sweets with a
variety of centres 'And the more you expect of it,
the more you get out. So if you're keen to take a
good hard look at life with me, I promise to take us to
the ends of the earth in search of life's greatest
secrets and solutions.'

When you join up you don't get a bag of Revels, of
course. What you get is free gift called 'The Little
Book of Tea'.

This instant download reveals dozens of ingenious
uses for tea - beyond it being Britain's favourite
drink, of course.

• For instance, did you know that a homemade
tea face tonic can be as effective for your skin
as an expensive face cream?

• Or that you can use tea as a tonic for your
plants... turn old teabags into a great place to
grow seedlings.... a pint of brewed tea to
shine your mirrors... or even tea as a weight
loss aid?

No?

Well, it's all there in the book. Plus plenty more
revelations about tea that will surprise you.
